God desires to take away our ashes (our feelings of forever falling short--whether that be spiritually, physically, or mentally) and give us beauty (he will cover us with his goodness and grace) in their stead. —Isaiah 61:3
‘Ash’ is a word that’s been used throughout history to convey a sense of worthlessness or insignificance. Sentiments that each and every one of us can fall prey to, at some point in our lives. What layer of ash covers your head? Discontentment? Depression? Disease? Even something as seemingly simple as Designer’s Block, keeping you awake at night? God knows your heart. He sees when you’re hurting or just barely hanging on by a thread.
If your dreams have turned to dust or been trampled underfoot by others, remember the One who holds your true destiny in his hands.
He has not forgotten you.
Remember his promise.
He will make everything beautiful, in his time. —Ecclesiastes 3:11
Let him wipe away the dirt of regret, exhaustion, sorrow, or worry from your body and replace it with a diadem of beauty. Trust that the plans he has for you are to see you prosper and grow. To take hold of a future filled with hope, not despair. The heart of this blog is to share life in its purest, rawest form. And to encourage each and every one of you in your own exchange of 'ashes for beauty'. Whether that be inside your home or inside your heart.
I like to think they’re one and the same thing.
